GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, JANUARY 24, 2001: Pil tanker Jessica runs aground fouling 1,200 square kilometres of pristine sea & nature reserve with 600 tonnes of fuel oil. The Galapagos archipelago is a United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation protected site, home to 10,000 giant tortoises, as well as albatross, iguanas and sea lions.
